trauma-informed yoga classes
every other week on zoom.

okay but what does trauma-informed yoga even mean?
it means that this is not the typical vinyasa yoga class that you might find at your local studio.
there is no fast flowing, complicated poses, or pressure to "get it right." there is definitely no need for performance, flexibility, or keeping up.
this is a completely different approach to yoga, specifically
designed for trauma recovery, nervous system regulation, and reconnection with your body and the present moment.

these weekly classes are built on four pillars:
present moment awareness (interoception)
trauma pulls us out of the body and robs us of the present moment. here, we come back—slowly, safely, and somatically. we’ll practice tuning into sensations, emotions, and movements in real-time.
choice + agency
in trauma, we often lose our felt sense of choice and felt sense of control. these classes create a space where you can choose—what to do, how to move, how much to engage. you're always invited, never forced. every posture, breath, or stillness is an option. you get to listen to your body, decide, and exercise your own agency.
effective action
this means taking small, doable steps that help you feel better. these classes will support you in learning to identify what your body needs and then take effective action to meet that need: whether it's grounding, rest, movement, stillness, or something else.
rhythms + reconnection
trauma can leave us feeling out of sync—with ourselves, others, and the world. through gentle, rhythmic movement and breath, we’ll rebuild a felt sense of flow, rhythm, and connection. this can be surprisingly powerful in restoring a sense of safety and regulation.

what you can expect:
each class weaves together practices to support your nervous system, rebuild trust in your body, and gently discharge tension and stress.
you’ll be guided through:
-
grounding + release practices
-
mindful movement + mobility (suitable for all levels)
-
strength + balance postures
-
self-regulation tools
-
relaxation + integration

these classes are for you if...
-
you’re navigating trauma recovery, high levels of stress, or chronic dysregulation
-
you want to feel more present and safe in your body
-
you’re new to yoga or returning after a break
-
you’re looking for a space that is centered around consent, choice, and compassion

no, you won’t be asked to talk about your trauma.
this is not group therapy. each 60-minute class is a space to feel, to breathe, and to move on your own terms.
please note that having the support of a therapist, coach, or trusted friend outside of class is deeply important. these practices can bring things to the surface, and it helps to have safe, grounded spaces to process and integrate your experiences more deeply.
i am so happy you are here.

my teaching is grounded in self-study of tctsy (trauma center trauma-sensitive yoga) and formal certification through the prison yoga project’s foundational training: yoga through the lens of trauma and incarceration.
i currently teach at a recovery center for individuals with substance use disorders and will soon begin offering classes to incarcerated individuals as well.
i’m passionate about creating safe, choice-based spaces where movement becomes a tool for agency, regulation, and reconnection—and i'm honored to now offer these classes online for anyone who feels called to this work.
